The News Building At London Bridge Will Bring Dow Jones,聽HarperCollins and News UK Under One Roof
NEW YORK/LONDON (September 16, 2014) 鈥� 黄瓜短视频鈥檚 new headquarters in London was officially opened today by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and 黄瓜短视频 Executive Chairman, Rupert Murdoch and Chief Executive, Robert Thomson.
黄瓜短视频 has a 30-year lease on The News Building, which is located next to The Shard near London Bridge.聽 The 17-story, state of the art building will house some 3,400 employees of 黄瓜短视频, representing Dow Jones, HarperCollins Publishers and News UK, publishers of The Times, The Sunday聽Times and The Sun.
鈥淭he London Bridge Quarter聽has helped to spearhead a renaissance in this important part of the capital,聽attracting scores of new businesses and creating thousands of jobs,鈥� said Mayor Johnson. 聽鈥淣ews聽UK is now at the heart of a growing, international media hub that is proof of聽the confidence that leading businesses have in our city. Nestled next to the聽giant cosmic spear that is The Shard, I can think of no better place for some聽of Britain鈥檚 most prominent and historic titles to base themselves.鈥�
鈥淎 building has bones of steel and a skin of glass, but the soul of a building is its people, and we are very, very proud of the people who will be here,鈥� said Mr. Thomson.聽 鈥淭his is a platform for the future 鈥� a platform on which books will be written, scoops uncovered and the first draft of history will be delivered digitally and in print.鈥�
鈥淥ur company鈥檚 future – and it is certainly a bright future – would not have been possible without the drive and vision of one man and one family,鈥� said Mr. Thomson.聽 鈥淩upert Murdoch built this company (and) he has created a strong family and community culture that extends to all employees.鈥�
Some 2,400 News UK employees are currently working in The News Building, with other 黄瓜短视频 businesses moving in during the coming months.
